A Year in Review

As we move forward into 2012, I thought I would recap 2011, to remember what a wonderful year it was! Lots of weddings this year = Lots of babies in 2012!

We spent the first 2 days of 2011 in Santa Fe, attending the Inaugural Ball for our Governor, Susana Martinez.

Also, in January, I became a Councilmember of our United Way's Young Leaders Society. It has been a life-changing experience so far!

Jackson turned 4 on January 29. We had a Toy Story party. My mom and Aunt Janet flew in for the occasion, and Buzz Lightyear as well!

In March, we headed to Vegas for the Mountain West Basketball Tournament.

Also in March, we had a BTLRJ weekend in Austin for Louisa's Bachelorette party, without the J (sniff sniff)...

And, Jackson started playing for the White Sox! T-Ball, that is.

On May 7th, Preston turned 2! We had a Phineas and Ferb party at the zoo. My mom and Janet flew in and helped me with everything, which was a huge relief because I was sick!

In May, YLS provided grants for homeless high school graduates in Albuquerque Public Schools - and, for the first time ever, Rio Rancho Public Schools!

Also in June, my childhood friend Louisa got married in Nashville! We had a blast at that wedding.

In July, we spent 8 days in Cabo San Lucas with my aunt and uncle - Janet & Troy, along with their friends Debbie & Roger.

On our 7th wedding anniversary (July 31), we began moving in to our new house!

A week later, I went with Janet, my mom and my mom's closest friends to Vegas.

In September, our friends Lacey & Derek got married in Austin. That same weekend, my mom married Steve. Labor Day Weekend = 2 weddings in ATX!

2 weeks later, we flew to Austin AGAIN for Jessica and Jason's wedding! September = 3 weddings in ATX!

In October, I turned 30! Yikes!

On November 14, we finally closed on our new house. Yes, we realize that we did that backwards.

We had a quiet Thanksgiving, spent with close friends.

In December, we went to Vegas for a belated 30th birthday celebration for me!

Later that month, we had a wonderful Christmas. My mom and Meemo flew in from Austin.

We spent the last evening of 2011 with good friends and neighbors, and all of the kiddos!

I tried really hard to be proactive this year for Christmas cards and even made the boys an appointment for portraits in October. We finally got in in early November, and got our portraits back last week! Christmas cards will be in tomorrow and out in the mail by Wednesday. Even with me trying to be ahead of the game it still didn't quite work out as I'd hoped. Anyway, here are my favorites! Thanks Kim Jew!

I finally got to see the Photo Booth pictures from my mom and Steve's wedding. I knew Jackson had spent quite a bit of time in there, but what I didn't realize is that he is in more than HALF of the photos! I will post wedding pics of the boys in their tuxes later if I can find any.

Yee-Haw! Went to Nashville in June for Louisa and Buster's wedding! We had such a fun BTLRJ time (as usual)! Since I do not yet have permission from the bride herself, I will only share a few highlights for now!

Tee Ball Adventures

Jackson has proved to be quite a skilled Tee Ball player. For a 4 year old, that is! By the end of the season, he could really hit the ball when pitched! Not so much off of the tee though. Here are some pictures from tee ball adventures...

For Easter this year, we followed our usual routine and had brunch at our Country Club after the Easter Egg hunt.

In March, we headed to Vegas for some basketball games. Since Jackson and Preston were unable to attend, we took Agent P with us instead! Here are some of the pictures from his adventures...

Valentine's Day 2011

I took the boys to Build a Bear for Valentine's Day this year because Jackson said he wanted a "bear wish" (this is what he calls Build a Bear) and they had some really cute V-day options! I was hoping Jackson would want either the Love Bug or the Love Bee, and since Preston isn't old enough to have a strong opinion yet, he could have the other. Things did not work out as I planned. Jackson picked the black bear (which would have looked super cute in the bee costume), but he did not want any of the V-day outfits. He wanted a soccer playing bear, regardless of the fact that he does not play soccer (he plays tee-ball). At least we have one cute one!

Jackson's 4th Birthday!

For Jackson's 4th , we got to have his party on his actual birthday! As usual, my mom and Janet flew in to help and we all had a great time (after we finished the cake)!

I decided to simplify a little this year so we had it at ABQ's Playroom. It's similar to a Gymboree with more of an "at home" feel. I LOVE that place! Jackson wanted a Toy Story theme and the owner had Buzz Lightyear drop in during the party! Jackson was terrified of Buzz at first, and even asked me to take him to the car! After some time (and bribery with fake money from Ryan), he warmed up to him.

After the party, we went to Libby and Steve's and Jackson opened his presents. It was a great day!

We also got Jackson registered for T-ball. Stay tuned for Little League adventures!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

A week before Christmas, we got snow! It didn't stick around for a white Christmas but there was a lot of it! Sharon and I took advantage of the storm and finished our shopping. Toys R' Us and the mall were pretty much empty with the exception of a few other crazies.

For NYE we had some friends over for a quiet night. On the first, we travelled to Santa Fe to attend the Inaugural Ball for our new Governor, Susana Martinez. We stayed at Buffalo Thunder Casino & Resort and Scott won at Blackjack too! Sadly, I did not. At least he won enough to more than make up for my losses. Win or lose, we still had a great time!

Cookies with Santa

This year, we took Ryan with us to Cookies with Santa. Jackson has come a long way since screaming so loud every time he even saw Santa in the mall, employees would come out of their stores to see what was going on. Every time he sees Santa now, he waves, gets really excited and yells, "Hi Santa!"

Preston has no issues with Santa...yet. Maybe he feels safe because he is with his brother?

Scott and I have been telling the boys that we are going to call Santa and report any bad behavior, and that he may not bring them anything this year. On Sunday, Jackson told Scott, "You bad, Dad. I call Santa and tell him you don't get Cwissmuss!" (Sadly, he no longer refers to the holiday as "Missmuss.")
Also, I did not get Christmas cards out this year. We have just been much too busy. I was just relieved that I actually made it to the post office today to get our out-of-town presents out in time! I haven't even finished shopping either. Eek!

The boys really enjoyed Halloween this year. Since Scott is away, Jasmine (Jackson's girlfriend Ryan), her parents Susan & Scott, Sharon & her daughter Karissa, Jen and her parents Libby & Steve all came over to go trick or treating with us.

Preston especially enjoyed walking up to people's doors and getting candy in his pail. At one house, a woman was passing out candy in a pumpkin pail similar to his. Preston put his pail down and tried to trade it for her full one!

The boys got a lot of candy this year. Thank goodness its almost all gone!

Three days before Scott left, we took the boys and Jackson's girlfriend Ryan, to the pumpkin patch in Moriarty.

Ryan did as she was told...

Preston didn't get to ride the cow train last year so he was extra-excited...So excited that he would NOT sit down, so he did not get to ride this year either.

Again, Preston was just not having it with the pictures. Ryan is being such a good girl and smiling so pretty though!

The rule is: You can have whatever you can carry. Ryan did NOT want to carry her pumpkin, but she pushed through!

The Friday before, we celebrated my birthday with friends at the club since Scott left on the 26th. I turned 29 on the 27th! Eek! Here's to having the best year yet of my 20s. Since I'm sticking here, I'm thinking that won't be too hard to accomplish.

Susan - Ryan's mom - made this cake. I absolutely LOVED it!

It was yummy, too! I will be enlisting her for help for the boys' future birthday cakes. Between Janet, my mom, me and her, I think we will be cake crazy!

Earlier in the month, we headed to Wichita Falls to have a Mills family dinner. I think everyone was there! The boys had a great time playing with their cousins and I had a great time playing with mine! And my sisters, of course!

Jackson's Baby Brudder

Jackson has called Preston "Peston" and "Baby" since we brought him home from the hospital. Now he calls him "Brudder" and "My Baby." In fact, the last time we saw Meemo, she told Jackson that I am her baby. Jackson looked at her and said, "I go get my baby," and brought Preston to her!

One of my favorites from Labor Day Weekend. He is such a goofball!

Preston wants to do everything his big "Brudder" can do. He no longer wants to sit in a high chair to eat. He prefers the table. Jackson loves to play with our cell phones and now Preston does as well. He walks around the house with one of them to his ear and jabbers.

Olivia took this one today while they were at the park.

Preston has started to grab me by the hand to take me places he wants me to accompany him, and he's even started to push on me to move in the direction he wants me to go. My mom promised me my second child wouldn't be anything like my first (stubborn and strong willed). But it appears he is EXACTLY THE SAME!

He is however, still a very sweet boy. Yesterday he wanted me to hold him and he put his head on my shoulder. I was patting his back and he started patting mine. He constantly makes my heart melt. And, he and Jackson are best friends! We couldn't be more blessed.

10 Year Reunion

We spent the first week of August in Austin for my 10 year High School Reunion. It was fun to all be together again. Well, since Beth's wedding in May, but at least Scott was with me this time! Now we are excited for Louisa's wedding next summer so we can do it all over again!

I was surprised how few people came considering how big our class was.A lot of people that still live in town didn't even come!

We went to Austin early for my High School Reunion this year to spend some time with Meemo and Nonny.

After Meemo left, Scott, Nonny and I took the boys to San Antonio to stay on the River Walk and go to SeaWorld. On Wednesday, we took our time getting there and stopped at the outlet mall in San Marcos and made it to our hotel by 6 or 7pm. We got checked in and ventured out and took a boat ride. Even though the lines were long , it was hot and there were lots of mosquitos, we really had a good time. After the boat ride, we had a late dinner outdoors. Preston was cranky and did not want to do anything except throw chips and tortillas on the ground and lick a plate of cheese. He literally picked up a plate that had the remnants of queso and started licking it. Taking it from him was unnacceptable and caused screaming and throwing so we let him have it, just this once.

On Thursday, we took the boys to SeaWorld. Preston was still cranky (probably due to the FIVE teeth he has coming in!!!) and hot but Jackson had a great time. He really liked the shows, the rides and especially the water park. When we got back to our hotel that night he drew me a picture of a whale, a bird and a fish. He also thanked me for taking him. Where did this sweet little boy come from all of a sudden!?!

On Friday, we took our time checking out and stopped at the outlet mall again. It is really way too big to shop in one day. Sadly, I didn't find anything too wonderful. I was really disappointed. Our company event was at Cliff's again this year. Jackson was able to ride just a few more rides this year, and left the line for the Rattler kicking and screaming when told he wasn't big enough to ride.

This year the 4th of July was a little emotional for me. Scott and I met 7 years ago on the 4th. With him getting ready to leave for 6 months, we've been trying not to take anything for granted. On Saturday, we went to the club for the dinner and fireworks on the patio with Jen and Bob. Our Country Club has absolutely the best view in the area for watching the festivities. This year, the city of Rio Rancho opted to do their fireworks on July 3, while Albuquerque did theirs on the actual 4th so we only got to see Rio Rancho's that evening. On the actual 4th, the boys and I met Scott and the pool after he was done playing in the Member-Member tournament. That evening, we went to the Gage's for their annual party. On Monday, we took the boys to Itz! Unfortunately, that event was the only one for which I got pictures. :(

We lost my Poppie on May 6th. Today would have been his 86th birthday. It breaks my heart that my boys won't have any of their own memories of him or see what a wonderful example he was of a wise, kind, generous man who always did the right thing. I miss him so much, but I know he will live forever in our hearts. I have many fond memories of him that I will continue to cherish.

Preston's First Birthday!!!!

Our baby boy is one! Time really flies. We had his first birthday party at the park. It was really windy so we didn't get to use the balloons I had ordered. Everything (well, almost everything) was navy blue and kelly green. I couldn't find a blue or green bounce house with a slide so we rented a red one. We had a candy buffet with blue and green candy. I think the kids liked it. I know Jackson and Preston did for sure!

What we've been up to...

We have been so busy this month! First we had Easter, Scott turned 38, we are preparing for Preston's first and this weekend is Beth's wedding in Austin! I've been saving up pictures so I'm just going to catch up all at once.

Everyone knows Jackson is very independent, and very strong willed. We know he can change his own pullup, complete with using baby wipes and A&D. Now, he likes to control his wardrobe choices as well. And sometimes, it's just not worth the fight. Last weekend, he told me he wanted to go for a walk. He still had his jammies on so I told him he couldn't go for a walk until he got dressed. This is the result (and yes, his shorts are on backwards and unzipped).

I just couldn't resist getting Preston this shirt...Two weekends ago, Jackson wanted to go to the zoo on Saturday night. This is what he wanted to do instead of going to bed. We promised him we would take him the next day and he made us follow trough. It was so nice out and we actually got there at a decent time. We had a picnic - Jackson fed most of his lunch to the birds and Preston ate his food plus what Jackson didn't give to the birds. He has become a grabber. We had them side by side eating oatmeal cookies and Preston grabbed Jackson's cookie so he had one in each hand. Sound familiar? We got to see a lot of the animals actually awake which is rare for us. Jackson told most of the animals, "I sorry you're in cage." It was sweet.

Easter 2010

For Easter, we did our usual Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch at the country club. Jen, Tom, Libby and Steve ("Ibby" and "Seed") joined us. Jackson found 4 eggs and Preston got loads of attention. We had a great time!

This past week has been big for Preston. First, he said his first word other than "mama" or "dada." He smiled real big and held his arms out and said, "Tickle tickle tickle!" It was pretty funny. Then, yesterday while I was cleaning up the kitchen, he stood for a good 5 seconds or so without holding on to anything! I'm sure he will be walking before we know it. This is going to make life so much busier! We are proud of our baby but he's growing up too fast.

The weather has been so nice that we've been spending more time outside. Jackson still loves the truck he got for his birthday and Preston loves to ride with him. Now that its been warmer, they've actually gotten to cruise around the neighborhood.

One of my friends Lisa, held her daughter's birthday party at the bowling alley last Saturday. We took the boys and they had so much fun! Jackson really enjoyed bowling.

Jackson had a funny technique. At first, he would put the ball down and give it a push. Then, he started more of a throw with a kick.

Jackson will open it on both mine and Scott's phones and run around the house playing with "Carl" in each hand! Double the fun right?

Scott and I went to Vegas with some friends week before last. We made it to two UNM basketball games for the Mountain West Tournament and even got out to see a show. We saw O

and it was amazing! I can't wait to see a different one on our next trip. Our flight out there was delayed so we were able to get on an earlier flight. When we got to the gate, the Lobo team was waiting to board. We got to fly in with them!

My mom was generous enough to fly in and stay with the boys so we could enjoy ourselves. She got Jackson to potty for cookies. She even took Libby and Major back with her so they can have a vacation from the boys. They are at Janet's now. We miss them terribly. Well, I do. Jackson just misses chasing them with sticks. Now he only has his brother to torment.

After watching all of the figure skating events during the olympics (with the exception of the guys), Jackson really wanted to go ice skating. Joana and I took our boys last Saturday! I think Jackson enjoyed playing with Diego more than the skating though.

I was surprised it didn't come back to me more easily. It's been 14 years but I didn't feel steady at all. I can't wait to take him again though! Maybe we will both be better next time!

Today, the boys went to the Doctor for Preston's 9 month appointment and Jackson for follow-up shots.

Jackson weighs 37.8 lbs (80th percentile)
He is 38 inches tall (75th percentile)

Preston is so little compared to Jackson at that age.
He weighs 17lbs, 11oz (10th percentile)
And is 28 inches tall (50th percentile)
His head is also in the 50th percentile at 45cm

Since we were in Austin for two weeks, we borrowed a car from my mom (thanks Mom!) and drove to Tyler for a few days to see David and Alicia. We really enjoyed being able to spend time with them so much! It had been way too long!

Trail of Lights!

Sunday night we took the boys to the Trail of Lights at the Botanical Gardens. Jackson loved seeing "Miss-Muss" lights and Preston fell asleep.

We thought Jackson might enjoy it now that he's starting to understand a little more about Christmas and Santa. On Saturday, he told Santa he wanted cookies for Christmas. He wouldn't smile but at least he took a picture on Santa's lap this year!

This past weekend we went to Dallas to watch Texas play Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship. It was the most stressful game I have ever been to or even seen! The win made the trip worth it and the new Cowboys stadium is impressive!

Nonny and Meemo came to visit us for Thanksgiving this year. We had Greenberg Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn casserole, deviled eggs, salad, coconut cream pie, pumpkin roll and buttermilk pie. Preston had formula, baby food and a bite or two of mashed potatoes. Both he and Jackson enojoyed spending time with my mom and Grandmother.

Halloween 2009

For Halloween this year, Jackson was a pirate and Preston was a parrot. On Friday, April brought them up to the Trick or Treat Event at my work.

Our HR Department dressed as pirates too. Here they are in their ship with their little pirate and his parrot.

On Saturday, we had some friends over to watch the Texas game. Jen and I took the boys trick or treating in the golf cart while everyone else stayed to watch and give out candy. When we got back, Jackson loved giving out candy to all of the neighborhood kids. He got really upset with me if I even tried to help him!

Sunday, we took the boys to the big pumpkin patch in Moriarty. We picked a lot of pumpkins! Jackson would pick one, carry it for awhile, and get tired of it and pick another one. He was quite picky too! He would pat each one he thought he could carry before trying to pick it up. He got to pet and feed the goats, ride the slide and the train, and go on the hayride.

For Preston's first Balloon Fiesta, we decided to go to the Saturday night Balloon Glow. We got there early to see the balloons being blown up. However, just before it got dark enough for the glow, it got too windy so they had to get the balloons down. We still had a good time though. Jackson loved it so much this year! Especially after a balloon had landed in the street near our house the day before...

Lately, Jackson has been somewhat of a handful. Today, our nanny told me he's been saying "attention!" when he needs attention. And twice, awhile after we've put him to bed, we've caught him with food from the pantry downstairs. One night he was standing outside our bedroom door with a bag of Hershey's Kisses. The next night, Scott caught him near the pantry with a box of Pop Tarts. As Marva would say, he's a midnight food bandit!

On Tuesday night, Jackson came running to me saying, "Mess!" He had marker on his arms and legs. He took me to the dining room and had colored a 2' x 1 1/2' spot on the carpet with one of those big permanent markers. I don't think I've ever been so mad at him in his life! He went straight to bed and wasn't able to come out until morning. Wednesday night, he took the ball point pen off of the island in the kitchen and colored our kitchen table. I can't get that out either. Any ideas?

Meanwhile, Preston is still a sweet little boy! We haven't ruined him yet!

The New House!

We love our new house. It's in a nice little gated community that was designed for families. It's a little over 3200 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, it has a nice sized kitchen that opens to a family room, a huge loft for a game room, and tons of big closets. We have his and hers walk-ins in our room and even the boys have walk-ins. The back yard is nice and big too which was definitely something we were hoping for. We aren't completely done with the yard and the house yet but my mom has been bugging me forever to post these pictures so here they are! I can't wait to finish unpacking and have everything complete!

Learning To Swim

Jackson has been taking swimming lessons on Wednesday mornings at the country club. Since he calls it the bath, Alyssa tells him he's not clean enough to get out when he wants to do his own thing. He enjoys them for the most part but it takes him some time to warm up. By the time we left today, he was jumping in the water (in the deep end) by himself (with his floaties on of course).

Jackson loves the pool this summer. He calls it the bath. Preston has even been in the water. I've taken them a few times since our country club pool opened for the season. Jackson starts swimming lessons next Wednesday with our favorite lifeguard so stay tuned!

Preston is officially a week old as of Thursday. We got to come home from the hospital on Mother's Day. My mom and Scott had accomplished a lot in our new house! It was a nice surprise.

I have been recovering nicely from the c-section and have been out and about. I don't feel like I had surgery this time which has been nice because I have needed my energy with all of the chaos that is our lives now. Here are some new pictures.

Preston was born this morning, Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 10:49am. He weighs 7 pounds, 4 ounces and is 19 1/2 inches long. He has brown hair and blue eyes and looks a lot like his big brother did when he was a newborn (except he has hair and is smaller than Jackson was). We are so grateful that God has blessed us with another healthy boy!

Zoo Adventures

Yesterday we took Jackson to the zoo since we know I won't be able to go for awhile. We got to see the Polar Bears play, the Gorillas chase each other and a chimp do a back flip. The highlight of our trip though was the lion who roared at us. I was kind of scared he was going to try to maul us but Scott and Jackson thought this was great. He just stood there staring at us and roared for a good few minutes. It attracted quite a crowd. We didn't realize how loud they are in real life!

This year for Easter we did our usual and went to church the night before so Jackson could participate in the Easter Egg Hunt at our Country Club. They do a really nice brunch afterward and we enjoy it with our good friends. Jackson got 5 eggs this year in the hunt (which was inside because of the weather) which is a 500% improvement over last year (he got none). I guess all the practice hunting paid off!

Jackson has also reached a point where he wants to sleep with us every night. We put him down in his room and it takes everything we have not to go get him with the crying, screaming and banging on the door. He's usually in our room by 3am and in between us. We are going to start taking him back if it happens tonight.

The weather has been so nice in the evenings, we have been walking the golf course with Daddy. He can actually get in 9 holes before it gets dark and Jackson and I get exercise and fresh air so it's a win for everyone. Jackson rides in the jogging stroller or his wagon, jumping out ocassionally to hit (attempt to hit rather) a golf ball with his golf clubs. He stands back with his hands on his knees while Daddy hits the ball. It's so adorable!

Jackson has also perfected his pout and does not hesitate to tell on Daddy or Mommy when he gets a spanking.

Poor Jackson

It has been quite a week so far. Jackson kept us up Sunday night whining and coughing so first thing Monday morning, I took him to the Pediatrician. He had 102 fever and his oxygen levels were low. We got a chest x-ray and a breathing treatment and a follow up appointment for the next morning. Yesterday afternoon, I called the Pediatrician back because his fever was almost 104 and he was miserable. Long story short, he was admitted to the hospital where we spent about 16 hours so they could monitor his fever and his breathing overnight. They did some testing and we will find out tomorrow what it actually was. The scary part though was that every nurse who entered the hospital room had to wear a plastic gown, a mask and gloves. Jackson wasn't allowed to leave the room either. Here are some pictures from the experience.

Since Jackson only has 68 days left (who's counting?) as an only child, we are trying to spend more time with him doing the things he enjoys. The weather has been a bit warmer so yesterday, Scott took Jackson with him to ride in the cart while he played golf. I can't believe he actually rode and behaved himself the entire time when I can't get him to ride in a stroller at the mall for two hours!

Today, Jackson and I pulled some of his bigger toys out and played in the yard. He's becoming such a little person and we hope he's a good big brother.

Today has been very eventful. My C-Section has been scheduled for May 7th at 9:30am. We are very excited to meet Preston!

Tonight, about 30 minutes after putting Jackson to bed, he came into our room. He has never walked through the dark house before to find us. He wanted to sleep with us. It broke my heart to have to take him back to his room. I read to him for awhile and he still didn't seem appeased. Finally, I tucked in his Elmos, Grover, his ball and his books and told him that they had to go night night so he needed to be quiet. He shushed me, gave me a kiss and a hug, so I left again. I'm waiting to see if he gets up again. I don't want him to wake Scott up!

This past weekend, we went to see Meemo and Poppie. Jackson was good for the most part on the plane to Dallas and the drive to Hillsboro. He wasn't too bad at Meemo and Poppie's either. Coming home though, he was a terror! He didn't want to watch movies so he kicked the seat in front of him the entire flight, threw a horrible temper tantrum, screamed and cried. As we were taxing to the gate, discussing how we were never traveling with him again, he fell asleep.

We are glad Poppie is feeling better as he recovers and that we got to see him. We had so much fun!

Since my belly is too big for me to reach into Jackson's crib, we converted it to a toddler bed and he is doing really well with it. He actually stays in it which is nice. When we put him to bed the other night he said "love you," which melted our hearts. He's also getting his pleases and thank yous down. We couldn't be prouder. We've had a crazy week! Last Thursday, Jackson hit his head on the wall running in the house and actually dented the wall with his head. I took him to the Doctor's office and they said it was a mild concussion and to call back if he threw up or if he exhibited any behaviors that were out of character. The egg went away by the next day but on Saturday I woke him up to find puke in his crib which continued after breakfast. I called the Doctor's office again and they said to take him to the Infant ER downtown right away for a cat scan. I called Scott off of the golf course and we went only to discover that he now had the stomach flu. The vomiting continued into Sunday night so we tried to make him sleep with us (not a good idea). I woke up about every 3o minutes to find him with either a finger in my ear, a toddler right on top of me, kicking, etc. Around 3am I finally took him back to his crib since he had not thrown up again by that point. On Monday night though, I started vomiting. We are all better now, just in time for Thanksgiving! Here are the pictures of our poor little guy's head...

It's getting cold in New Mexico. There were reports of snow yesterday in some parts of the state. Everyone in our house has the sniffles.

Here is a picture of Jackson in one of his new outfits that Gamme & Paw Paw brought him when they visited last week. Scott and I were talking this morning when I took them that he doesn't look at all like a baby anymore, much less a child under two! We can't believe how fast time has flown by and are looking forward to our new addition in May!

I had another ultrasound on Halloween and they said the baby's heart rate is 167 bpm. I've heard that girls have higher heart rates than boys so I am optimistic for our next ultrasound on December 10th. Although, I'm pretty sure Jackson's was 167 too, but with so much in storage, I don't know where I put the ultrasound photos to check! I have a Doctor's appointment tomorrow and will keep everyone updated!

For Halloween we started off a little crazy because I couldn't find his treat pail anywhere! We used this little treat bag and had to take a backup to empty it into which was fine since we took Jackson trick or treating in the golf cart. It went with his costume. He had so much fun ringing doorbells and waiting for people to answer. He also shared some of his candy with one of our neighbor's dogs (with the owner's permission of course). We mostly went to people's houses we know along the golf course and a few others in our neighborhood. He was adorable running up to doors and back to the cart.

For some reason, the flash wasn't on when Scott tried to take pictures. I think I need to give him a camera lesson...

Baby Update

Jackson, my mom and I all went to my Doctor's Appointment last Friday. My due date is earlier than what I was originally told. It is now in early May so it looks like we will have a new baby in the first week! Jackson got to watch the ultrasound and was upset that someone other than him was getting attention. Just one baby....Whew!

On Saturday, my mom and I took Jackson to Mop Tops for his first haircut. Yes, he finally had enough hair to cut at nearly 21 months old! We were completely shocked at how calm he was too. So we got this cow doll (her name is Milkshake) that dances to "Ladie's Night" for a fun module at work. It ended up getting shipped to our house by accident instead of work so Jackson got to meet Milkshake. He LOVES her! Now I will have to find one for him. He also loves to dance to her song and run around the house with her purse! Where does he get these moves?

Baby?

Jackson loves to look at my belly and say "baby" like it's a question. It sounds more like, "beh-bee?" Scott got a picture of him patting my belly tonight. I can't believe it's already sticking out so much!

Later, I asked Jackson if he wanted to go night-night. He grabbed his blanket, gave Scott a kiss and led me to his room. I put him in his crib and wound up his Elmo and he said "Bye-bye." There was no crying when I left the room and closed his door! I'm still in shock.

Introducing...The Slide!

Jackson had to go with me to the jewelry store last weekend to get my ring appraised (since I finally got it back from Tacori). They have a playroom there with a slide and I could not get him away from it which is a good thing since the appraisal took about 45 minutes. We didn't discover the slide until after he attempted to escape me into the ladies room to put all of the paper towels in the toilet. I took a video of him sliding while we were waiting. He was so funny!

Jackson and the Elmo Lunchbox

While in Austin over the summer, my mom and I noticed that Jackson had started carrying my train case around her house. That same trip while at a store, he found a purse with a handle on top and started walking around with it. Well, we figured he liked them because of the handle.

About a month later during a visit to our house, my mom found an Elmo lunchbox that has a handle on the top and he LOVES it. He carries it all around the house with him. A few weeks ago we noticed him putting his favorite blocks in it too, which we thought was cute.

However, this morning as I was getting ready, he came into our bathroom doorway and started dumping out the contents of his lunch box on the floor. I was amazed at what he had stuffed in there! There were three toys, two sippy cups (both of water so it wasn't that scary), the coasters that have been missing from the living room and a smashed piece of bread! (Jackson LOVES bread. He will bring you the loaf from the pantry when he wants it).

I started laughing hysterically and took some pictures. He is such a funny little boy and we are relieved he's using the lunchbox istead of other things (even though it seems he's using it as a purse)!

Also, we hope you get better soon Tatum!

"Texas!"

Yesterday, I took some pictures of Jackson is his Texas hat and this is the only one that turned out. Although, he did add "Texas" to his vocabulary which makes us happy. Now we're working on "Longhorn" and "Bevo" and trying to get him to stop saying what sounds like "Aggie!" Not sure where he got that but I think New Mexico State's mascot is also Aggie - whatever an Aggie even is!

He is speaking so well now it really catches us off guard sometimes. Today, we went to his BFF Cameron's first birthday party and he was the only little one there that would just run up to people and climb on things. The other children were calm and quiet. What have we gotten ourselves into?

I also pre-ordered Elmo Live today. It is supposed to be out October 14th. We were just going to wait until his birthday or Christmas to get it for him but Toys R Us and Target are already out of the pre-ordered ones so I got a little worried.

Halloween Costume Finals

I found a "Little Golfer" costume today and I had to include it in the polls for Jackson's Halloween Costume! It would be so cute for him to drive his little golf cart or even for us to take Scott's golf cart trick or treating with us!

I am continuing the voting though because he loves Elmo and I'm torn between the two. Help us decide and cast your vote on the left!

Summer Trips to Vegas

First Trip: The last week of July, Janet, my mom and my mom's friend Cindy and I met in Vegas for a few days during Furniture Market to play. We had so much fun and even got my mom to gamble a little! Janet also had a birthday during the trip so we ventured out to downtown for a nice dinner and saw the light show. Here are some pictures from the July trip (I still don't have them all Mom)!

That's one of the singers from 98 Degrees (I met him in the bar at our hotel). The blonde is just a girl that was sitting in the bar.

Janet and I spent about 10 hours at the Toby Keith tables at Harrah's one of the days. This is an 80 year old woman (I think she was 80) taking a shot called a Duck Fart that we ordered for her. Isn't she cute?

Second Trip: For Labor Day, we took a last minute trip to Vegas. This time, Jackson and Scott came along and we even brought our babysitter Melanie! Scott was able to see one of his favorite bands' final concert while we were there which was a big deal to him. Here are some pictures from that trip (don't have all of these yet either).

Exhausted after a long day...

Things I've learned in Vegas this summer...

1. Blackjack strategy cards cost about $4.00 in hotel gift shops. You can get them for free in the Indian casinos here.
2. Just because you know basic Blackjack strategy doesn't mean the other players at your table do too.
3. Reading books and practicing basic Blackjack strategy does not necessarily mean you are going to win lots of money.
4. Babysitters in Vegas cost about $35 an hour. It is much smarter to bring your own!
5. The Toby Keith tables at Harrah's are fun. Really fun. However, by making it fun, they get more of your money.

Melanie's biggest learn? When asking the driver to drive the strip on the way to our hotel from the airport since it was her first time in Vegas she asks, "Is that like where everything is?"

The Elmo Dance

Every time the Elmo's World segment at the end of Sesame Street comes on, Jackson screams and does this dance. I couldn't get a really good dance on video so I took parts of three different ones I've recorded and compiled them. They are hilarious!

Little Helper

Jackson has become a little helper around the house. Yesterday as we were leaving for the gym, he handed me my car keys from the dining room table. Then as we were about to walk out the door and into the garage he ran off and came back with one of his diaper bags and said, "here you go." Not wanting to discourage his sweet behavior, I ended up taking two diaper bags with us (I left the other one in the car). Then, he attempted to open the car door for me!

When we got home from the gym, he started playing with his TMX (Tickle Me Extreme) Elmo, which really upset Libby. This is the Elmo that stands, sits and rolls on the floor while laughing. I took some pictures because it was too funny!
