Nursemaid's Elbow

Well we had a scare today. Scott called me this morning saying I needed to call the hospital because Jackson was hurt. Apparently when Scott got Jackson out of the car he started running towards the street. Scott grabbed him as quickly as possible by the arm and he said he heard a pop. I called the Pediatrician's office immediately and was put straight through to a nurse. The nurse said that our Doctor actually had an opening in 30 minutes and that taking the appointment would be quicker than going to Urgent Care. Within 15 minutes, Scott, Jackson and I were with Dr. Bruce. Jackson was wimpering and burying his head in our shoulders which broke our hearts. Dr. Bruce was able to quickly figure out that it was a dislocated elbow. All he did was pop it right back into place. He also said it is a very common injury and that he would be just fine. Of course, Scott was worried about Jackson's baseball career. We don't know if he's a South Paul yet but his left elbow is good as new now. He stopped crying within 5 minutes of the Pediatrician fixing it and was able to use that arm to grab a sucker, and has been himself ever since. I found this article on the issue http://www.drgreene.com/21_1079.html. Dr. Bruce actually said to Scott, "Great job Dad. You saved his life," which made Scott feel much better about the whole thing.

Here's a couple pictures of Jackson eating dog food last night after we got home from the gym...He IS a baby Scott!

Poor Jackson, uh poor Scott! I had that same experience with Tanya. I pulled her out of the tub and pulled it right out! The Doc told me they call it Grandma's elbow. I suppose since Grandma's can't bend over very well "we" just lift the kiddos up by their little arm! Sounds like Jackson just had his first injury report - Hopefully he won't have many of those in his lifetime! Love ya'll! Give that sweet a hug from us!
